We are a gathering of people who love Jesus.  Everything we do is orientated around Him. Worshiping God is our highest calling; whilst we join together on Sundays we seek to offer all that we have and do to God in worship.  Prayer is the way in which we connect intimately and grow in our relationship with God. We seek to share God's love with the world through service and telling people of the Good News of Jesus Christ. The church is one big family of God and so we believe everyone has a part to play from every generation.

BELIEFS

We believe in a God who created a good and right world. God the Father, out of love, created the world and humankind because He is Love. However, humans have turned their back on God and are all caught in sin.

We believe that through Jesus, the Son of God, our relationship with God is restored. When he was born, the light of God entered the world. When he died on the cross, he destroyed our death. When he was resurrected, he restored our life.

We believe that God is still active and at work in our world today.  We believe the Holy Spirit comforts, restores and empowers us to have life in abundance.

In the fourth century, Christians composed a statement (known as the Nicene Creed) which declares who we believe God to be. All Christians throughout the generations have held to this declaration of the truth of  God. It is not a dry bullet-point statement about a distant God. We use it in our worship as it tells of the Living God who so loves us that he gave His Son that we are able to know Him.

We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is,
seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father;
through him all things were made.

For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary
and was made man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.

On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic [universal] and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come.
Amen.

ST MARY'S PRIMARY SCHOOL

Growing out of the church’s concern for local families who struggled to gain a place at a local primary school, St Mary's Church of England Primary School opened its doors to its first pupils in 2013.

The school received a resoundingly good Ofsted report in 2015.

See the school’s website for more information: www.stmaryshamptonschool.org.uk

MTV YOUTH

Around the same time as opening its school St Mary's also launched a Friday night youth club at the west end of the parish called MTV Youth.

The club proved immediately popular and has gone from strength to strength. Whilst MTV Youth is now its own separate charity, St Mary's members continue play a major role in running and staffing the club.

For more information about the club visit the website: www.mtvhampton.org.uk
